14 November 2009, Galaxy AFT. The SS Galaxy cruise liner will be undocking from the harbour at the Sagittaria Estate for her new home as part of the United Sailing Sims (USS) on 17 November. The SS Galaxy is the largest full-scale, full-service cruise liner on the Second Life grid, spanning three sims in length.  She was designed and built by Bill Stirling and her Managing Director is DBDigital Epsilon.  Linden Lab has partnered with the ten estates comprising the USS in architecting the Blake Sea, which is the first joint community project between Linden Lab and a group of private estate owners.  Together, the Blake Sea and the USS offer the avid explorer more than 180 regions to fly and sail in, themed around life-on-the-water in all its diversity.

Re: Grand Opening of C.Smit Lounge!

The Raymaker Field Studies Centre at Praxis is now open to visitors.  Under construction since April 2009, the Centre affords opportunities to learn more about geography, geomorphology and the earth sciences by exploring the island and interacting with the exhibits.  Highlights include an earthquake simulation by Johnny Norwood and Sanspareil London, and a climate change / reef health simulation by Arminasx Saiman and Thickbrick Sleaford.  The island's landscaping and original builds were the work of its original owners watcher Castaignede and Constantine Loire, who managed the island as a Celtic role-play region known as Dark Isle.

September 29, 2009. Los Angeles, CA. On October 1, 2009, The Virtual Worlds Story Project (TVWSP), a production company that specializes in using new media and storytelling to engage, educate, and create community, will tackle its biggest topic to date: HIV/AIDS.

TVWSP is a project of Martin Keltz and Jena Ball. Known throughout Second Life as creative, passionate educators, Ball and Keltz have developed a signature approach to storytelling. Known as “Story Quests,” these one-of-a-kind, 3D environments draw participants into and encourage them to help create stories. In their latest Quest, participants will explore the life of an HIV-positive person known simply as “Uncle D.”
